Falconer and his hawk visit Jesse Lee Day School

Connecticut Falconers Rescue Hawk from Stop and Shop

On February 9 , 2016, John White and Nick Grzywacz, president and vice president (respectively) of the the Connecticut Falconers Association responded to a call from the CT DEEP to help remove a hawk from the East Hampton, CT Stop and Shop.

After waiting for several hours to get permission from Stop and Shop's corporate office, they were able to safely catch the hawk (a juvenile cooper's hawk) within ten minutes. They assessed the bird's condition, found him to be in surprisingly good shape and released him back to the wild no worse for the wear.

The CT Falconer's Association often gets calls to assist the CT DEEP and has been involved in a number of successful rescues over the past few years.
